5 Methods to Optimize the company Worth of Attending ConferencesAre you currently optimizing your conference experience? From Small-time Blogger to Professional Paid Speaker: My Journey

on Feb 3, 2012
This guest post is by Marcus Sheridan of The Sale Lion. We’re all communicators. That’s what we do. Some of us love the feel of pen in hand. Others find joy as the fingers hit the key pad. But for me, the magic is in the communion that occurs in front of a live audience, a place where I feel more at home than any other. Like you, I’m a blogger. I’m also a business owner. In fact, I own a swimming pool company. Ten years ago, I started the business with my two partners. The challenges of entrepreneurship

The Social Media Super Bowl

on Jan 25, 2012
The Social Media Super BowlI’m going to go out on a limb here and say that the Super Bowl will be the biggest, one-day, social media event of the year. Last year, during the final minutes of the game, fans posted 4,064 Tweets per second. This broke the sporting record which had been held by the World Cup, but it didn’t break the all-time record of 6,939 TPS. That happened the moment Japan welcomed in the new year.

Facebook and Ticketmaster Create Interactive Event Map Experience

on Aug 26, 2011
Facebook has teamed up with ticket industry monopolist wannabe Ticketmaster to help event attendees learn where their friends or other people of interest may be sitting for an event. The interactive map using Facebook friends as the way to see who’s sitting where (of course, if you are using Ticketmaster you probably aren’t one of the cool kids who get the good seats through other channels) was introduced this week. Notice the emphasis placed on privacy concerns in the Ticketmaster video.

Foursquare Check In for Events Is Launched

on Aug 19, 2011
Foursquare Check In for Events Is LaunchedIn the Internet world launched is a relative term since most launches are done piecemeal and often further off in the future than you might suspect given the hype afforded most of these upgrades. Foursquare’s new offering around events is no different in that it is only coming to the iPhone initially but don’t fret, they promise it will arrive on other platforms (they just don’t say when). So what is this? It’s pretty simple. Foursquare has seen how people gum up the works by creating a variety of check in

How to Plan a Successful Affiliate Conference or Event

Here are some tips I found very helpful. To get started on hosting an affiliate marketing event you first need to think about what kind of event you want to host. Are you going to do a meetup that’s a relaxed atmosphere or are you trying to do more of a learning event where you have speakers and try to teach those who are attending?

Digital CMO Summit: What makes an Entrepreneur?

on May 18, 2011
Although it was a few weeks ago, my mind is still buzzing with learnings from the 2011 Digital CMO Summit, which I had the opportunity to attend in New Orleans with John Bell. This unique event was not only filled with hands on learning and compelling content, but brought together some of the most innovative brands for a two day summit. More to come on that in my next post.  While I was the summit, I had the opportunity to meet some truly inspiring and interesting people - who not only breathe social - but

Signal LA: The Curtain Raiser - Tim and Arianna Open A Sold Out Show

Tuesday marks the launch of FM's Signal conference series, where we focus on one topic, one day, in one city. For our first event, in Los Angeles, we've always had a great lineup, but recent events have certainly made it even more timely.
