Apple’s Earnings Miss Blamed on Rumor Mongering

Apple’s Earnings Miss Blamed on Rumor MongeringYesterday something happened that hasn’t happened since 2001. Apple missed its quarterly earnings numbers. It’s an interesting phenomenon because it had nothing to do with the death of Steve Jobs. The company just didn’t sell as many iPhones and iPads as it thought it would. What is also interesting is Apples’ long history of given ridiculously low guidance to stock analysts then turning around and crushing their numbers. Not sure what happened here though. Did Apple finally try to

Steve Jobs’ Apple Logo

Steve Jobs’ Apple LogoWith the passing of Steve Jobs, everyone has their own special thoughts and memories about how Steve and Apple has changed the world. One of my favorite movies is “Pirates of Silicon Valley“, which is a fun movie about Steve Jobs and Bill Gates growing up, and how they both started their own companies and got to where they are today. Over the next few days you will probably learn a lot of new things above Steve that you never know, such as he played a part in the construction and design of

“These things can profoundly influence life.” - Steve Jobs

“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”

Help Me Interview Michael Dell, CEO, Dell (And Win Free Tix to Web 2)

Help Me Interview Michael Dell, CEO, Dell (And Win Free Tix to Web 2)Not unlike Steve Jobs back in the 1990s, Michael Dell returned to the helm of his company at a crucial moment, when his namesake was seemingly rudderless. Back in 2007, Dell was losing marketshare to HP, Apple had not yet proven the monster it has since become in mobile, and tablets were something used on factory floors.

Jobs, Jobs Everywhere Are Jobs!No not Steve Jobs. Job jobs. The ones that make careers etc. Our Internet marketing job board continues to update often with new opportunities for job seekers in the Internet marketing and social media marketing fields. Of course, that means that more and more employers are seeing that for just $27 per Internet marketing job listing per month, it’s silly not to put your job in front of Marketing Pilgrim’s talented readers.

6 Unfair Market Advantages You Should Steal from Apple

Remember when you last walked into that Apple retail store? It was really hard walking out empty-handed, wasn’t it? Why is that? What makes Apple so special? How does their market share keep escalating? Why do fanboys rave all day about them? What’s their secret? Apple consistently uses a handful of techniques to simply out-perform their competitors, both in the creation and the marketing of their products.

Is The iPad A Disappointment? Depends When You Sold Your AOL Stock.

Is The iPad A Disappointment? Depends When You Sold Your AOL Stock.

Today's news that the iPad sold 2 million units in its first two months - coming as it does right before Steve Jobs takes the stage at his only public conference appearance in years outside carefully scripted Apple launch events - led me to reflect on my prediction, in January of this year, that the "iPad would disappoint" (that'd be #5, scroll down).

Steve Jobs at D: A Master...

on Jun 2, 2010

...and I mean that. Watching Jobs work his way through nearly 90 minutes of interview and audience questions, I really felt, for the first time, a sense of how strongly the guy feels for his work and his products. Then again, I found myself angry, several times. Angry when he championed the press as crucial to democracy, and implied the iPad would save our country from "descending into a nation of bloggers" (my view: we started as a nation of bloggers - pamphleteers like Thomas Paine).

Some Funny Steve Jobs And Bill Gates Captions

I’m not exactly sure when or where these photos of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates together on the same stage were taken but they’re being used for some extremely funny captions. If you can come up with a better caption, I would love to see it. My favorite caption is the one about flipping a coin. Which one do you like?

The iAd: Steve Jobs Regifts The Mobile Marketing Experience

We're used to buzz around Apple, and in particular, we're quite used to buzz about how Apple goes to market. CEO Steve Jobs is widely considered the greatest marketer alive, and nearly every marketer I've worked with has expressed sincere admiration for the magic the man is capable of weaving. His products are brilliant, and the cult around Jobs and his work are extraordinary.
